Established general practice law firm is looking to hire a paralegal with experience in litigation involving personal injury and property damage in the following practice areas: construction/Labor Law, products liability, premises liability and general liability for its midtown Manhattan law office. The jurisdiction is predominantly New York but the firm also has cases in New Jersey as well as federal courts in both jurisdictions. Experience handling a high-volume case load and independently handling the day-to-day paralegal tasks is important, including:
Processing HIPAA authorizations for the collection of medical, employment, workers' compensation records;
Following-up with facilities to obtain necessary medical, employment, workers' compensation records;
Scheduling IMES, designating physicians for IMEs, providing all necessary records for doctors for IMEs, following-up for reports;
Handling and processing invoices for records and IMEs;
Drafting and following up on subpoenas and FOIA request;
Coordinating with investigators;
Comfort with the court systems (i.e., NY e-filings, NJ filing, PACER);
General file organization and familiarity with all litigation documents to pull exhibits for motions and discovery.
A minimum of 5 years of experience required. Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Salary commensurate with experience. Generous benefits package.
